Julie Williamson
Julie Williamson is a partner with the firm.
Ms. Williamson has extensive experience in the area of complex commercial litigation, including multi-forum, class and collective actions involving insurance practices, employment disputes, consumer fraud, sports franchise matters, and employee benefits.
Ms. Williamson’s practice includes representation of both plaintiffs and defendants, from the inception of litigation through discovery and trial. She successfully defended an NFL franchise in a class action brought by season ticket holders, which resulted in a dismissal at trial following presentation of the plaintiffs’ case. She served as case manager and trial counsel in fraud cases brought in seven states against a national stock brokerage firm. That particular case spanned five years, required four jury trials in three states, and resulted in settlements of more than $30 million. She also represented managers of a publicly held company in a class action to recover severance benefits under ERISA, which resulted in a favorable, court approved settlement. In addition, she has represented clients in Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions, securities fraud cases, partnership dissolutions, commercial lease disputes, shareholder derivative actions, and general contract disputes. Ms. Williamson also is trained and experienced in alternative dispute resolution and has served as a Commercial Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
Ms. Williamson was elected by her peers to The Best Lawyers in America®, in multiple years, in the field of Business Litigation. She also has received Martindale Hubbell’s highest rating of AV, and she is a fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation.
Ms. Williamson’s writings include “Appeals,” in the Colorado Attorney’s Professional Liability Handbook, 2nd Edition, 2005; “Preserving the Record for Appeal,” in The Colorado Lawyer, November 1999; and “Duties, Responsibilities and Potential Liability of Directors and Officers,” Banks & Thrifts: Government Enforcement and Receivership, Matthew Bender, 1994. Among other lecture engagements, she has spoken on the topic of Managing Complex Litigation for the Colorado Bar Association.
Ms. Williamson is active in professional and community organizations. She is a former Chairperson of the Colorado Lawyers Committee, and she has served on the boards of the Rocky Mountain Youth Dance Foundation and the Montessori School of Denver.
